How to Make Homemade Fishing Rod Racks ~ To Fishing With Me

Building your own fishing rod rack is easy to make with a PVC pipe. Or you can make a fancy one by using an all wood material and design plans that you can get online or from a magazine. It is important that you have a place for your fishing rods to keep them from breaking and make it easier to find and store after using. Finally, remember to use quality raw materials to build your racks with to keep them sturdy and durable.

Instructions

Measure 70 inches on the wood plank and mark with a pencil. Saw the wood at the 70-inch mark and set the excess wood aside.

Mark one side of the wood plank every 10 inches starting from one end. Turn the plank on the other side and start marking from one end, first by 5 inches and then every 10 inches. This will give 5 inches of space in between each fishing rod, on alternating sides, when the project is done.

Get the excess wood plank and cut 2 pieces 8-inches each, which will be used for the fishing rod rack's feet. Screw the wider side of the feet to one end of the 70-inch wood plank using the 2-inch self tapping screws. Lower the feet about half an inch to raise the rack off the ground and add to its stability. Repeat with the other piece of 8-inch wood.

Grab your PVC pipe. Measure and mark every 9 inches and saw off each section. You can sandpaper the ends of each tube to smooth out the sharp edges.

Measure an inch from the bottom end of the PVC pipes and mark with a pencil. Then measure about 2 inches from the first mark. Drill a pilot hole in your PVC pipe sections on the places where you marked. This hole is your screw driver access.

Attach the PVC pipes right on the markings on your wooden rack using a drill with the screw driving bit and the inch self tapping screws.
